Create different types of QR codes
QR code for a link
Use the URL of a website, product, form, digital menu, payment page or any other address on the internet. To follow the scans and change the destination later, turn on tracking with a Pro or Business account.
WhatsApp QR code
Enter the number and, if you want, a prefilled message. When scanned, the phone opens the WhatsApp chat with that information.
Wi-Fi QR code
Connects the phone to your network without typing the password. Works with WPA, WPA2, WEP and open networks, at front desks, offices, restaurants and events.
Email QR code
Set the address, subject and message. When scanned, the email app opens with that information filled in.
Phone QR code
Enter a phone number. Scanning the QR code opens the call option on the phone.
Text QR code
Stores text in the QR code itself: codes, instructions, identifiers, short messages or information that must be available without opening a website.
Customize your QR code
The generator lets you set:
- Pattern and background color
- Gradient and transparent background
- Square, rounded or circular dots
- Shape and colors of the corner markers
- Center logo, with size and padding
- Frame, with color, thickness and corners
- Space between the frame and the QR code
- Message above or below the code
The image can be 256 to 2048 pixels and comes out as PNG or SVG. You can also copy the image straight to the clipboard.
Static QR codes and QR codes with tracking
Static QR code
A QR code created without tracking stores the content in the pattern itself. It:
- does not expire;
- does not depend on pqno.app to keep working;
- does not record scans;
- cannot change its content after printing.
If the address changes, you need to create a new QR code.
QR code with tracking
On the Pro and Business plans, link and WhatsApp QR codes can use scan tracking. The QR code points to a pqno.app short link, which lets you:
- see how many times the QR code was scanned;
- check the link stats;
- change the destination without changing the printed QR code.
Where to use QR codes
A QR code works well wherever there is a screen, printed material or physical space from which someone needs to reach information on their phone.
Menus
Take customers straight to a digital menu or to a Link in Bio with different options.
Packaging
Use it for manuals, product pages, support, campaigns or extra information.
Business cards
Point to your website, profile, WhatsApp or Link in Bio.
Posters and flyers
Make it easy to reach sign-ups, campaigns, products or specific pages.
Shop windows
Take passers-by to products, catalogs or customer service.
Wi-Fi
Let visitors join the network without typing the password.
Events
Use it on invitations, badges, presentations and support materials.
Presentations
Put links and extra materials on screen without showing long URLs.
Price tags
Point to product details, specs, stock or the purchase page.
How to prepare a QR code for printing
Contrast
Use a dark pattern on a light background. The generator warns you when the chosen colors have low contrast.
Size
For business cards and packaging, use at least 2 × 2 cm (about 0.8 in). When the QR code will be scanned from farther away, scale it up: about 1 cm of QR code for every 10 cm of distance.
Margin
Leave clear space around the pattern so the camera can find the code. With a frame, keep some space between it and the QR code.
Logo
Keep the logo to about 30% of the width of the QR code. The generator uses the highest error correction level to make up for part of the covered area.
File for print shops
Use SVG. Since it is a vector format, the QR code can be enlarged without losing sharpness.
Test
Before sending a large run to print, scan it with more than one phone.
PNG or SVG?
PNG
For websites, social media, presentations, documents and digital images.
SVG
For print shops, packaging, cards, banners and materials that may change size. SVG keeps the vector pattern and does not lose quality when enlarged.
