In marketing, a link shortener helps you distribute, organize and measure the links in each campaign, besides making the URL shorter. Here are nine practical uses.

1. Social media campaigns

Long links take up space and make posts and captions harder to read. A short URL keeps the address clean:

pqno.app/launch

2. WhatsApp

WhatsApp campaigns can have one link for each:

  • customer service channel;
  • offer;
  • piece of content;
  • form;
  • sign-up page.

With one address per action, you track the clicks on each.

3. Email marketing

One URL per send keeps the results apart. Use the name of the content in the code:

pqno.app/news-september

4. Events and presentations

When the audience has to type the address, every character counts. Showing

pqno.app/slides

is much easier than a long URL with several levels and parameters.

5. Sales materials

Proposals, PDFs, presentations and catalogs can use short links to send readers to up-to-date pages. The document stays clean, and the address can carry the name of the action.

6. Influencers and partners

If several partners promote the same page, create one link for each:

pqno.app/partner-a
pqno.app/partner-b
pqno.app/partner-c

Then compare the clicks from each partner.

7. Content and lead magnets

E-books, guides, webinars and surveys can have their own URLs. The clicks show which materials are still being opened.

8. Link in bio

Instead of changing the bio URL for every campaign, keep one page and rearrange the blocks by current priority. On pqno.app, the profile combines links, collections, text, images and videos.

9. Automation through the API

When a system creates many links, the API removes the manual work: the system requests the short URL and stores it with the campaign, content or record.

How to structure campaign links

Set a naming pattern for the campaign links, for example:

product-channel-period

In practice:

course-instagram-sep
course-email-sep
course-whatsapp-sep

The format can be different. What matters is always using the same one.

Does a short link replace UTM parameters?

No. They work together: the destination URL keeps the parameters, and the audience sees only the short address.

Destination URL:
https://site.com/offer?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=september

Shared URL:
https://pqno.app/offer-email

The shortener redirects to the full URL, parameters included.

For Google Analytics, use consistent parameters such as utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign. They identify a campaign when the destination page collects analytics data. See the official campaign URL guide.

How to interpret the results

Compare links over the same period and consider the reach of each promotion. Clicks do not measure sales or unique visitors, and an address can be shared in other channels. Automated email link checkers can generate visits. The custom codes in these examples require Pro or Business and must be available.

Different links or a single link?

To promote the same destination, one address is enough. To compare channels or partners, create separate links.

How to organize a campaign's links

A campaign can produce dozens of URLs. Give each link a title that names the channel, such as "Instagram, October stories", and compare the clicks on each one at the end of the campaign.
